The term “kegerator” is a combination of the words "keg" and "refrigerator". This is a relatively new word in the dictionary and a perfect exemplar of how language could be very dynamic.

The very first kegerators were likely brought out with the revival of the home brew in the 80s. Home brewing was made legal again by an act of congress after being outlawed from 1920 to1933.
