What is the best way to design in which the messages will go to build a fence?
I masons twine, stakes, whatever. However, is difficult to get this right. What do I properly design my yard so my fence will be good and right with included angles of 90 degrees?
First, locate and mark their corner posts with stakes (usually after the property line) and run a cord all the way around. You want the evenly through the posts, but no more than 6 '(over 6' will not come loose). So measure the distance between the corners and divide that number by the approximate number of posts up to a distance of 6 feet or less between the posts. You can not go 6 ', 12', 18 ', so the corner, because, odds are, when they reached the opposite corner, you will end with a space too short or too long. Heres an example: Let's say theres 50 ' corner to corner. Convert feet to inches (50x12 = 600 "). Now divide your 72-inch (6 ') 72 ÷ 600 = 8.3 panels. 600 ÷ 8 = 75" (too much, more than 6 '), 600 ½ ÷ 9 = 66.6 or 5'6 ". Now you know if you design your messages each 5'6 ½", the end result will with spaces yet. After all the post locations are marked, remove the string and dig the post holes. The best way I've found to establish posts are to set all corners plumb first, let's put a little, then run up and down a rope as a guide for environmental positions. As always and when there is no wind, this will keep them perfectly aligned and you just have to plumb the average racing side by side. If you want your fence perfectly aligned with home, instead of following the property line, run a cord from the front of his house in a plane through and into your backyard. Then use this string to pull their actions.
